Unitarian Universalism is full of deeply spiritual and faithful people who draw spiritual nourishment from a variety of directions. Paint Branchers may be practicing Deists, Buddhists, Atheists, Christians and Jews; may study the Qu'ran, the Tao Te Ching or the Rig Veda; may pray regularly or not at all. Yet we still worship and learn together, sharing an aesthetic atmosphere of collective exploration, building bridges of openhearted wonder and doing our part to make the world a better place.

Weekly worship is the heart of the life of Paint Branch Unitarian Universalist Church. In our 10:00 am services we seek to celebrate and "shape things of worth"-the original meaning of the word "worship." Each Sunday you will experience an event that that touches heart, mind and/or spirit. The topics of our services reflect our intention to seek out diverse sources and voices that speak to us from across the ages and the planet. You will regularly hear not only from our co-ministers and other religious professionals but from our talented group of Worship Associates and other lay leaders who bring their unique perspective on life and religion to our community.

Our choir and dance programs are another example of the breadth and depth of Paint Branch's commitment to spiritual beauty and diversity. Our choir sings regularly and stirs the congregation in magnificent ways. Music selection is generally thematic and we draw from many sources including classical, jazz, gospel and even, when appropriate, pop and rock.

Paint Branch is also one of only a few UU congregations with a professionally led liturgical dance group. The Chalice Dancers bring movement and energy to many services, sometimes dancing as the choir sings and other times using carefully chosen recorded music.

You can see evidence of all these things by looking at our sermon archive, and see what's coming next in upcoming Sunday services at PBUUC. But please, come join us Sunday to experience our services directly. With all these elements working together, newcomers can expect a warm welcome and a meaningful, provocative service.

Children also worship at Paint Branch. In addition to the main service, there is a program of worship for children that involves all-ages services, "Together Time" where children come for the first 15 minutes of service, and monthly worship experiences as part of the Religious Exploration program.

Worship and spirituality does not end when Sunday service does. One of the most famous readings in the hymnal "Singing the Living Tradition" starts "Love is the doctrine of this church, the quest of truth is its sacrament, and service is its prayer". Our congregation lives out this challenge through additional small group ministries such as our Nature Spirituality Circle, and Religious Quest book discussion group that provide both the love and the quest for truth.

The whole congregation lives out "service is our prayer" through monthly cooking for the Community Cafe, the annual Warm Nights program in which our sanctuary becomes a shelter for a winter week, and the Alternative Gifts program allows us to give to the least among us in the names of our loved ones.

About our worship space. On Sunday morning when you enter the Meeting House-our worship space-you notice our congregation's strong connection to the surrounding environment. Our beautiful wood and glass building, created to take advantage of a gorgeous natural setting, has a round dome and windows that look deep into the woods. Our space is not only lovely, however. We are also committed, as religious people, to creating as "green" a physical plant as we can, by using recycled materials, geothermal heating and cooling of our Religious Exploration (and office) Building, and natural themes and images in our weekly worship. These and more aspects of our congregational life remind us that we are a part of "the interdependent web of existence" (from the 7th UU Principle).
