A note on site updates: This page is used to note significant changes to the pbuuc.org Web site between backups. This page does not include the postings of news and event information in the upper left hand corner; this section is expected to update frequently. Also, we do not mention when new online sermons are added to this site.

The boldface dates are when a backup is performed. The bulleted list below the date shows the significant changes over the previous month.

Current Work

• Updated volunteer and member directories, eliminated obsolete "ops" directory after moving stuff to the volunteer directory. Both of these directories are works in progress. [10/5/08]

October 4, 2008

• Added links to Music at Paint Branch and DARTT events from the "upcoming events" page [10/3/08]
• Working on correction list (broken links, etc.) -- completed first round of changes. [sept. 08]

September 8, 2008

• Uploaded pdfs for annual reports backt through 2001 -- will ultimately be on password protected page for members only. [8/2/08]
• Updated Board page to reflect new membership -- photo will wait until at least August meeting when all are there. [7/11/08]
• Replaced co-minister information with information on our interim co-ministers (hat tip to First UU Baltimore Web site for the information and photos) [7/10/08]
• Added office hours to front page [hat tip to Nancy Boardmann & Daniel Everett for forwarding idea] [7/1/08]
• upgraded front page to clean up look & feel and navigability. This is not the last word; the publicity and communications group needs to decide how we want to present ourselves up front. [6/20/08]

• Moved "what's new" (this page) from news directory to site maintenance directory; news is now set up for Church office to take primary responsibility for service topics, announcements and upcoming events files. [12/17/06]
• Checked all pages for broken links and made corrections; some may be left on obsolete pages that are slated for extensive rework, as check was less thorough on those pages. [12/9/06]
• Pruned directories of unused files (with the exception of directories that are being reworked) [12/9/06]
• Created archive directory for extremely slowly changing files, as well as large ones such as audio (and someday video?) [12/9/06]
• Put distinct titles on pages rather than accepting default from PBUUC template, to allow more useful information for bookmarks and search engine optimization [12/9/06]
• Replaced old search with Google search on most visible pages -- some non-public pages or pages that are planned for renovation still have old search box, and search engine may or may not work. [12/9/06]

December 2, 2006

November 3, 2006

• THE NEW FRONT PAGE IS OPERATIONAL! It currently has the "Room for the Holiday" picture and link in the billboard area; that will rotate based on events and have a "community collage" when there isn't a major advertisement. The old front page is readily re-installable at this point; the old copy will disappear with the December backup.
  
  This new structure a new images directory at the top level that contains all the button images, along with the other artwork on the page. It also contains a folder full of the photoshop files used to generate the button icons, in case edits are needed. The 404 error page (notfound.html) was updated to use these new buttons. • Slight edits to directions page to re-install link to picture, and to put internal link to the mass transit area that is at the bottom of the page. [10/29/08]

October 19, 2006

• Added "announcements.html" page to news directory, edited news index page to group items better and add link to announcements, and updated main page to reflect changes. [10/18/06]
• Moved "volunteer" directory to be under the "info" directory [10/14/06]
• Moved pieces of "about" directory into news (archive), info (long range planning) and comm (everything else, what is UU?, etc. ). [10/14/06]
• Organized "Caring Community" index page (in comm directory) around individual visitors, info about PBUUC and UUism, and pastoral care/We care. It is now ready for turnover to the New Member Ministry team, which will design a nice front page for this area. [10/14/06]

• Put folder of information from 5/21 panel on religious right into adult religious exploration area.

May 22, 2006

• Slight directory shuffle (youth and branches page moved under groups and news directories, respectively). This reflects that our ISP fatcow now supports FTP users on lower-level subdirectories.
• Photo album temporarily (we hope) removed until we decide on policy for permission of photo usage, and deciding how we plan to protect children and youth from Internet predators.

January 30, 2006

• Did next step of sermon rework -- page now has internal links to each church year, and there are now a couple of pages that are organized into related themes or topics. If you have further ideas for topics, feel free to pass them along. REMEMBER TO CHANGE ANY BOOKMARKS DONE BEFORE DECEMBER 31!!!!
• Updated RE front page -- this is an interim step in a redesign by the RE committee, it will ultimately look far snazzier, but we wanted to get the additional info out there.
• Placed PBUUC statement of purpose (with link to UU Principles) in the upper right hand corner of main page.

• Have rearranged sermon directories to align with church years rather than calendar years. If you have bookmarked sermons, you will need to update your bookmarks. More changes coming in the sermon area.
• Some new material in RE section, more coming.

December 2, 2005

• Added holiday calendar to RE site as well as to "upcoming events"

October 30, 2005

• Added auction page -- initial version contains the donor form, with room to add more stuff.
• Reworked news and RE directories, and front page links to them. Index page added to news directory, much of the past year's news moved to archive.
• Split info directory into two -- one which has instructions for things like renting building, submitting calendar enty, etc., and one with more general info about PBUUC and Unitarian Universalism.
• Updated PBUUC home page links to reflect changes to structure.

October 2, 2005

• Added information on congregational and UU response to Hurricane Katrina
• Added documentation of how to reserve rooms and use church calendar (in information & instruction section).
• Substantial updates to RE section, especially to add fall brochure and calendar, plus to integrate Enrichment Hour information into the RE section. (NOTE: RE includes children, youth and adults).
• Updated board, staff and minister information in the Community section.

August 28, 2005

• New information on Adult Religious Exploration added, watch for schedule for Fall/Winter
• Move of photo album to new directory to allow access through a different user name. This is done so that we can recruit a photo gallery curator. The change is invisible unless you have bookmarked photos. In that case you need to look for the corresponding photo in the new directory and bookmark it by October 1, 2005

April 17, 2005:

• Cleaned up news and information areas by putting in link for "related links" under "About Paint Branch" and creating a separate block that highlights directions better.
• Added a link to WOMUUNWEB quarterly online publication on related links page
• Updated pages to reflect name change from "Arts Committee" to "Arts Council"

September 3, 2004: The biggest news is that PBUUC.org has just switched servers. (It is now hosted on FatCow.com.) Also made some minor edits on this site about the Paint Branch Nature Spirituality Circle. and uploaded Jaco B. ten Hove's sermon on The 6 1/2 Spiritual Laws of Success (August 8, 2004).

July 24, 2004: Added the sermon A Stranger in My Own Hometown by Barbara Wells ten Hove that was given at both Paint Branch UU Church (July 11, 2004) and Southeast Unitarian Universalist Summer Institute (July 22, 2004). Also uploaded recent photos of the Chalice Dancers.

July 15, 2004: Added the sermon Is Public Education Dead by Leo Jones (June 27, 2004).

June 23, 2004: Added the sermon on Sabbatical Reflections by Jaco B. and Barbara W. ten Hove (June 20, 2004). Also added a bunch of new photographs in the Photo Album.

March 25, 2004: Added the following sermons: To Celebrate Things of Worth by Rev. Barbara Wells (February 22, 2004), "Born Again" Unitarian Universalists? by Rev. Jaco B. February 19, 2004: Added new information about the Paint Branch Nature Spirituality Circle (formerly known as Paint Branch CUUPS). Made some minor edits of the What is a PBUUC Sunday Service Like? page. February 18, 2002: Added the following sermons: Don't Let the Light Go Out!: A Hannukkah Service (December 16, 2001), What I've Learned About Prayer So Far (January 6, 2002), and The Spirit of Creativity (February 10, 2002).

February 8, 2002: Added the following sermons: By the People (November 11, 2001), Let It Shine (December 2, 2001), Christmas Eve Message From Barbara Wells (December 24, 2001), Reclaiming Mythos in a Logos World (January 13, 2002), and UU Historical Highlights, Part 1: What Was So Radical About the Radical Reformation? November 11, 2001: The co-ministers' Branches newsletter columns have been completely revamped. From now on only the six most recent columns will be posted online at any given time. Also added the following: the sermon on Sustaining Each Other (November 4, 2001), a revised version of the sermon Gender Destiny, an updated Meet the Staff page, and an updated Meet the Board of Directors page.

October 22, 2001: Added a schedule of upcoming Enrichment Hour activities.

October 18, 2001: Added the sermon The Spirit of Public Education (October 7, 2001). Added A Statement of Concern and Conscience in the Aftermath of the Terrorist Attacks on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 along with links related to this issue.

October 10, 2001: Added the following sermons: The New Story of the Universe (August 26, 2001), Whereever You Go, There You Are (January 7, 2001), and the long-delayed second part of the Spiritual Formation of the U.S. Constitution. (Part one was already online.)

August 6, 2001: Added the July 8 lay sermon Einstein: Man of the Century by Jonathan Ormes.

July 15, 2001: Added the June 24 lay sermon on Leap of Faith: The Perils of Government Funding Religion, which was given by Rob Boston, assistant director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. Also updated the upcoming social events at PBUUC page.

April 14, 2001: Added Jaco B. ten Hove's sermon on Spiritual Formation of the U.S. Constitution, Part 1.

March 24, 2001: Added Barbara Wells' January 7 sermon on Buddhism called Wherever You Go, There You Are.

March 17, 2001: Updated the Upcoming Social Events at PBUUC and the Help Wanted at PBUUC pages. Added Jaco B. ten Hove's sermon on Do Youth Have Souls?

February 23, 2001: Added Barbara Wells' sermon on Our Theology, Part 2: Beyond Theism. Also added a new section on the CUUPS group.

February 2, 2001: Added a page that lists upcoming social events at PBUUC. That page is only for congregation-wide events that are also opened to the general public.

January 26, 2001: Recently updated the schedule of upcoming classes for the Adult R.E. program. Added a search function--courtesy of Atomz.com--at the bottom of each page on this site. (For a more precise search, there is a separate page that has criteria that you can search under.) Added the following: A new section that lists paid positions currently opened at PBUUC, Jaco B. ten Hove's sermon on Power and Patience, Jennifer Brooks' sermon on Kwanzaa Values for the New Year, and Jaco B. ten Hove's sermon on Our Theology, Part 1: Atheism is Always Right, Always Wrong.

August 23, 2000: Added photos of PBUUC's co-ministers, Barbara Wells and Jaco B. ten Hove, to the Meet the Ministers page.

June 9, 2000: Added the sermon "The Tibetan Debt to Death" (given at PBUUC on May 7, 2000).

June 6, 2000: This site underwent a major overhaul. Many of the files were sorted into directories in order to make site management easier. The first page of the site was completely redesigned. Easier navigation was added at the bottom of each web page. The backgrounds of every page were changed to a light yellow color to make reading easier. The graphics were optimized and--in some cases--made smaller so they would load faster. What is Unitarian Universalism? became a real page instead of simply an external link due to the discovery of other sites that also do an excellent job of explaining our faith. New non-UU links were added to the Links page. A new page on religious diversity in this congregation was added. New pictures were added to the Photo Album.
