Sharon Werth
Director of Chalice Dancers
For almost 20 years, Sharon Werth has directed and choreographed the PBUUC Chalice Dancers ensemble, which performs liturgical dance for many worship services and other church activities each year. Sharon has been dancing since her youth. She was a Dance Major at California State University at Long Beach. Upon moving to the DC area, she danced with The Erika Thimey Dance Theater from 1975-1979, when Erika retired. Her introduction to Sacred Dance from Erika (a pioneer in this dance form since the 30's) has continued to influence her career as a teacher and performer. She has also studied T'ai Chi with Al Chung-Liang Huang. She is now Co-Director of the revived Erika Thimey Dance & Theater Co. in addition to directing our Chalice Dancers. Sharon has taught many forms of dance and currently teaches numerous Creative Movement classes throughout the DC Metro area. "It is always a joy to express the spirit through the art of dance," she says.
