Diversity/Anti-Racism Transformation Team Charter

I. Mission

The mission and ministry of the Diversity/Anti-Racism Transformation Team (DARTT) is to raise awareness about racism and promote personal transformation and spiritual growth that will intentionally move our congregation to become a truly welcoming, multi-racial, multi-cultural community.

II. Composition

The DARTTeam is open to members and friends of Paint Branch Unitarian Universalist Church (PBUUC) who share an interest in carrying out our mission. Monthly meetings are open to the entire PBUUC community. Representatives of all committees and areas of the church are welcome and encouraged to participate.

III. Responsibilities

  1. Plan events that advance our mission.
  2. Utilize a variety of media to promote mission-related events.
  3. Publish monthly articles in Branches that draw attention to our mission.
  4. Maintain PBUUC web site information that informs readers about activities and resources that are valuable for personal development.
  5. Develop tools, including visual phenomena that promote goals related to our mission statement.
  6. Develop ways to connect with diverse populations in our geographic area.
  7. Guide our congregation on a Journey Toward Wholeness that identifies Paint Branch Unitarian Universalist Church as one of the Joseph Priestley District congregations that demonstrates a welcoming culture that is anti-racist, anti-oppression, and multi-cultural.
  8. Develop and administer effective ways to assess our progress in carrying out our mission and ministry to the congregation.
