Newcomers Are Always Welcome at Paint Branch

Sunday Morning at Paint Branch:

Our regular Sunday Services are held at 10:00 a.m. every week from September through early June. (Child care for infants and toddlers and Religious Education classes for children and youth run concurrent with Sunday service.) Sunday morning services are only part of worship and spirituality at Paint Branch, nonetheless they are central to our congregational life together.

We have a social period following every service where coffee/tea/other drinks are served along with a small snack. We are proud to announce that PBUUC uses fair trade coffee. For more details about why this is very important to us, visit our supplier, the Fair Trade Coffee Company.

From 11:45 to 12:45 we have an Enrichment Hour which features a variety of activities for all ages ranging from arts and crafts to games to lectures. We invite you to check out an Enrichment Hour activity of your choice.

Our summer services--which are mostly lay-led--are held at 10:00 a.m. from mid-June through August, with child care available.

Whether you're a UU from out-of-town or an individual who is looking for a new faith to join or a parent who is seeking a moral/ethical-based education for a child, Paint Branch Unitarian Universalist Church is here to welcome you.

Getting to know us:

Before and after each service we have an official Greeter who is willing to answer your questions and help you get acquainted with our church and its facilities. We have free brochures available on both PBUUC and Unitarian Universalism that you can read at your own leisure. The church bulletin announces upcoming events and provides basic information on how Paint Branch operates.

When you decide to visit us, we will give you an opportunity during the service to make yourself known to us, if you are confortable to do so. (If you prefer not to, that's okay too!) Whether you introduce yourself or not, please feel free to sign the Visitors' Book that is located in the foyer after the service, if you haven't already done this as you came in. The visitor's book also asks how you heard about us and gives you the option to request a newsletter subscription.

Paint Branch and your spiritual journey:

The religious quest is a personal journey in which we support and encourage each other. This means we are interested in growing and relating, helping one another, and recognizing our interconnectedness with the universe.

The Unitarian Universalist approach stresses freedom of individual belief; freedom to honor our humanist, Judeo-Christian, atheistic and/or pantheistic roots, freedom to search the world's religions and intellectual offerings, and freedom to delve into religious questions within our personal experience. (Click here and here to learn more about Unitarian Universalism in general.)

In this church you will find a blending of the arts and sciences, social and environmental concerns, and personal growth within a warm community. We welcome all without regard to race, color, social status, sex, disability, sexual orientation, age, or national origin, and without requiring adherence to any particular interpretation of religion or to any particular religious belief or creed. We hope you will find your religious home here with us.

However, we will not place intense pressure on you to join our congregation immediately. We believe that the decision to join should come from your own free will without pressure or force from others. If and when you consider making the serious commitment of signing the Membership Book, the bi-annual Path To Membership class will help you make an informed decision about what the membership commitment entails.
