A Diversity in Worship at PBUUC

Flaming Chalice

Like many other Unitarian Universalist congregations, we at PBUUC support and encourage diversity in worship. In our Sunday services we conduct readings from other books besides the Bible, play music that originated from other sources besides traditional church hymns, and we even conduct rituals that are derived from other traditions besides the Judeo-Christian ones. However, Sunday services are not the only forms of worship that occur at PBUUC. We believe that our congregation is strengthened by being exposed to diverse forms of worship. Below is a list of other groups that are actively exploring other forms of spirituality and worship besides attending Sunday services.

Paint Branch Nature Spirituality Circle explores Earth-centered religions of various traditions. We celebrate the seasons and honor God-Goddess within all and beyond all, in a multitude of forms. We hold rituals and other events at members' homes or at the Church. We also occasionally hold public rituals and Enrichment Hour events. All are welcome to join this Circle. To receive information on our rituals and other events, please sign up for the listserve. Religious Quest Discussion Group meets every Sunday during the Enrichment Hour, September through May, to discuss books and articles of a broadly religious, philosophical, sociological or psychological nature. The goal is to discover what various writers have to say about "being human religiously"-to paraphrase a title by UU theologian John Luther Adams that started the group going some years ago. Because the group is comprised of busy people, only a chapter or two is discussed each week. Newcomers are invited to join at any time--all points of view will be received with both respect and appreciation. Contact Lowell Owens.
