The Pastoral Care Associates team is a small group of trained church members who work "alongside" our ministers, assisting members who are facing significant losses, trauma, difficult life transitions, or who have other serious needs.
PCAs are caring individuals with whom we can share the stresses of our lives, our grief, confusion, frustrations, etc. They are lay members who "stand or walk with" us through tough times. They are fellow Paint Branchers and good listeners.
Pastoral Associates do NOT provide therapy. They make a commitment of time, receive training and supervision, and can refer to local resources, as appropriate. They share information with the ministers, but do not replace them. They can be helpful during times such as:
The six PBUUC members shown above have been trained as Pastoral Care Associates. Some also bring previous professional or life experience related to this ministry of caring and listening. You can contact them by leaving a message at the church office (301-937-3666) or by calling one of them directly (see church directory).
